After Andy Tromas' talk at the June 2026 demonstration evening, there was considerable interest in an LSA workshop to learn linocut printing techniques.
We plan on holding a workshop on Saturday 28th November in the Leomansley Room at Martin Heath Hall. The aim of the course is to produce a four colour reduction print.
The workshop will cost £30.00 each and there are 19 places available. You need to be a Society member to attend. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, so a speedy response is advisable if you want to attend.
The session will run from 10:00 to 16:00 with a break for lunch. Light refreshments will be provided but you will be expected to bring your own lunch.
All materials will be provided with the exception of lino cutting tools.
Inexpensive sets of tools can be purchased from, for example, Jackson’s Art starting at about £6.00 a set, Temu for about £3.00 and Hobby craft for about £7.00.
NOTE: This workshop is likely to be oversubscribed so if you're unsuccessful in gaining a place, please still contact us to put your name down for a future repeat of the workshop.

Previous Workshops
On 11th April 2026 Claire Leggett held a still live including flowers from a birds eye perspective workshop.
This workshop is new way to see a floral still life…literally. It included gouache and masking fluid techniques as well as learning to paint lace and fabric. short demonstrations were given before participants incorporated the techniques into their own work.
On 26th April 2025 Jeni Neale held a flower painting workshop.
Daffodils present two main challenges: depicting a trumpet-shaped flower against a flat whorl of petals and painting shadows whilst preserving vibrant yellows. Jeni guided the attendees through each stage of the process via group and individual instruction. The group also delved into techniques for painting realistic water droplets on the leaves, emphasising shading, highlights and the interaction of light and shadow.
